Botswana Equity Watch | 20 Aug 2015: Botswana equity markets indices record no changes, DCI, LASI and FCI all flat….
Gaborone, Botswana (Capital Markets in Africa):- The BSE Equity Markets indices were mostly flat in todays trading as the DCI main and local LASI indices as well as the FCI and DFSI recorded no movements into the green zone today.
The Botswana Domestic Composite Index (DCI) fell by slender 0.47 points to close at 11,036.13 points down by -0.00 percent from its previous close of 11,035.66 points.
Likewise, the Local Asset Sector Index (LASI) recorded no change after the days trading closing at 800.07 on par with its previous close of 800.07 (LASI is made up of the domestic companies and all foreign companies awarded the local asset status by the Ministry of Finance and development planning).
The Foreign Composite Index (FCI) recorded no change after the days trading holding at 1569.35 points.
The Domestic financial Sector index (DFSI) which is composed of all domestic financial sector companies also recorded no change after the days trading.
The market capitalisation settled at BWP 422,515.50 at the end of the day’s session with the Domestic Equity Main Board accounting for BWP 52,313.62 million and the Foreign Equity Main Board accounting for BWP 370,201.88 million.
From a market activity perspective, the total daily volume settled at 2,774,374 shares traded which were exchanged from the 25,712 million Securities issued bringing the total turnover of those shares traded on the domestic and foreign main boards to BWP 32,349,094.86 million.
The market activity in terms of the securities traded volumes were lead by Sechaba which recorded the highest volume figures of 21,451,950.00 followed by Choppies with 10,801,308.00 and Turnstar with 27,848.80.
Looking at the price movers’, there were 2 price gainers and 1 price loser on the Domestic main board Sefalana and Primetime that recorded a price change to the green zone. Sefalana was up 1 to 1272 and turnstar were up 1 to 280.
Moving towards the red zone were Choppies down -5 to close BWP 540.
